Zero-Shot Domain Adaptation via Kernel Regression on the Grassmannian
نویسندگان
چکیده
Most visual recognition methods implicitly assume the data distribution remains unchanged from training to testing. However, in practice domain shift often exists, where real-world factors such as lighting and sensor type change between train and test, and classifiers do not generalise from source to target domains. It is impractical to train separate models for all possible situations because collecting and labelling the data is expensive. Domain adaptation algorithms aim to ameliorate domain shift, allowing a model trained on a source to perform well on a different target domain. However, even for the setting of unsupervised domain adaptation, where the target domain is unlabelled, collecting data for every possible target domain is still costly. In this paper, we propose a new domain adaptation method that has no need to access either data or labels of the target domain when it can be described by a parametrised vector and there exits several related source domains within the same parametric space. It greatly reduces the burden of data collection and annotation, and our experiments show some promising results.

متن کاملZero-Shot Domain Adaptation: A Multi-View Approach
Domain adaptation algorithms attempt to address situations where our training (source) data distribution and test (target) data distribution differ, potentially by a substantial amount. For example, in a natural language processing task there may be many important phrases in our target genre which are required for low target error but do not occur in our source training set or even have support...
متن کاملDeep Unsupervised Domain Adaptation for Image Classification via Low Rank Representation Learning
Domain adaptation is a powerful technique given a wide amount of labeled data from similar attributes in different domains. In real-world applications, there is a huge number of data but almost more of them are unlabeled. It is effective in image classification where it is expensive and time-consuming to obtain adequate label data. We propose a novel method named DALRRL, which consists of deep ...

where θ is an implicit nonlinear mapping based on our kernel. We have dropped the subscript d for aesthetic reasons but readers are reminded that each regressor is trained independently with its own target values (i.e., vcd) and parameters (i.e.,wd). We found that the regression error is not sensitive to λ and set it to 1 in all experiments except for zero-shot to few-shot learning. We jointly ...
متن کاملGeodesic Regression on the Grassmannian
This paper considers the problem of regressing data points on the Grassmann manifold over a scalar-valued variable. The Grassmannian has recently gained considerable attention in the vision community with applications in domain adaptation, face recognition, shape analysis, or the classification of linear dynamical systems. Motivated by the success of these approaches, we introduce a principled ...
